Founder Sammy Lee introduces StarXGen, a research organisation examining what AI means for a world facing a loneliness epidemic. With 8 billion people more digitally connected than ever, yet lonelier than any point in human history, the World Health Organisation now classifies loneliness as a global health crisis, and governments worldwide are appointing dedicated ministers to address it.

StarXGen commissioned YouGov to survey nearly 10,000 people across six countries, exploring how artificial intelligence is reshaping human connection, emotional wellbeing, and social behaviour. Rather than starting from a theory, the research sets out to document an existing reality: how people are already turning to AI in response to isolation.
